Viktor Zaretsky (1925-1990) was born in Belopol’ye, Sumy Oblast. He graduated from the Kiev State Institute of Art in 1953. The artist worked in the sphere of the easel painting and mural. He founded his own studio (1978-1985). Zaretsky was posthumously awarded with the Taras Shevchenko State prize in 1994. His works can be found in many Ukrainian museums.
