Adalbert Erdely (1891-1955) was born in Zahattya, a village in Zakarpattia Oblast. He studied at Budapest Art School (1911-1915).

Since 1916 worked as an artist, as well as tutored painting at secondary schools of Mukachevo and Uzhhorod. Together with I. Bokshai he founded an art school. Edrely’s works of art fell under the influence of impressionism. The realistic portraits and compositions created by Erdely have a gentle feeling of colour expressiveness.
