Nikolai Maksimenko (1924) was born in Yaropovytchy in Zhitomir Oblast. He studied at the art school in Magnitogorsk where his tutor was I. Grabar (1941-1942).
Since 1994 he became a People’s Artist of Ukraine. In 1994 the artist was awarded with the Taras Shevchenko State Prize. N. Maksimenko lives and works in Zhitomir.
